To kick off our new Inspire Us Series this month we had the pleasure of catching up with the beautiful Iris Louwerens, founder of The Wellscene, to hear all about her favourites places, her homemade smoothie recipe (a must try) and her life changing mantra. 



Talk us through your morning routine...


I get up around 7am and have a hot water with lemon whilst I make myself a green smoothie and breakfast. During breakfast I'll do something for myself; read a book or catch up on my personal emails. After breakfast it's time for a quick 15 minute meditation and then it's time to start working, roughly around 8:30am.



Breakfast favourite? 


Chia seed + quinoa flake porridge with loads of nuts and berries or an omelette with veggies and salmon



Smoothie or juice of choice? 


My own homemade green smoothie. It's contains a handful of spinach, 1/2 apple, 1/2 pear, ginger, 1/2 tsp spirulina, 1 tsp moringa, coconut water, water and ice. Utterly delicious!



Your favourite place to meditate? 


Anywhere surrounded by nature



Where is the most magical place you have practiced yoga?


In Bali. There's something very unique about that place. The light of the sky during sunrise and sunset is just phenomenal.



Your dream holiday destination? 


California or South Africa, I can't choose between the two!



The three things you can’t travel without? 


My phone (to take pictures, listen to music and stay in touch with loved ones), Kindle and a good all purpose moisturiser like Weleda's Skin Food



What’s the best thing about visiting a new country? 


Exploring places you've never been before and learning about their culture and habits. I'm a really curious person and love observing people, so going to a new country is always lots of fun. 



The first thing you do when you get home from a trip? 


Put my passport at a safe place and have a cup of herbal tea



Can you share with us a Mantras or positive affirmations that mean something to you?


You're exactly where you're supposed to be. This one was quite life-changing for me as it reminds me to be accepting of what is and always look for the positive or for life lessons in whatever life throws at me.
